Fly Fishing Schools and Fly Casting Lessons

River Borne Outfitters offer fly casting lessons and fishing clinics to help speed up your learning curve and help you maximize you time on the water.

Casting Lessons

We offer both single hand, and two handed (spey) casting instruction. We can provide the rods or you can bring your own.

$50 per hour per person.

Crooked River Fly Fishing Clinics

The fly fishing clinics are a great option for those that are new to the sport or for those that just need a refresher. Most Clinics are hosted on the Crooked River. A good place to learn how to fly fish with its many non discriminate trout and lack of bushes for the beginning fly caster.

It is a four hour class, in which we cover:

  • Basic terminology and equipment
  • Fly casting (learn to false cast, roll cast, tension cast,etc..)
  • Knot tying (learn the clinch, surgeons, blood, and perfection)
  • Basic aquatic entomology
  • Fly selection
  • Dry fly and nymphing techniques and set ups
  • Line maintenance and mending
  • Fighting Fish
  • Catch and Release

All this, and as many questions, and as much casting practice as we can fit into a four hour class! A syllabus with knot diagrams, and non-alchoholic beverages are also provided.

Small class sizes.

Clinics are $125 per person, two person minimum.

Fly rod rental included.

Receive a 10% discount off a guided trip when you take a fly fishing clinic! (Offer good for up to 6 months after class)
